Movie Poster Design & Visual Storytelling
Students redesign a movie poster by exploring composition, color, and storytelling—drawing from film concepts and visual narrative techniques
During my student teaching at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in 2023, I led a Grade 5 graphic design project where students redesigned posters for their favorite films or books. Using Canva, they explored digital design tools for the first time — experimenting with composition, color, and typography to express their own interpretation of a story's themes. The project centered on creative voice: each poster was a window into how a child sees and feels a narrative.
